The data about violence content exposure is surprising. A piece of Yahoo news claims cartoons as most violent shows children watch. According to a research on 79 animated movies/cartoons, every single one of them contains at least one violent scene.Films like Tom and Jerry, My Neighbor Totoro etc. are really popular among children. However, some of them have a good amount of violent content that may influence children’s behavior. Also, the effects of violence from animated television shows and films depend on children’s ability to distinguish between fantasy and reality. Children that experience disinhibition while watch such programming are more likely to mimic violent activities. This really shows us how the mass media can affect people daily lives.

Summary of the project

The animated movies, hidden cause for children's aggressive behavior.
This porject is focusing on the media effects on children's violence behaviors. As a one major information resource for children, animated film is playing a significant part in shaping children's cognition and values. However, researchers have found that lots of animated films contain violence-related scenes. It could become an issue when teachers, parents and children's caregivers are not aware of the consequence and still consider cartoons or animated movies as an absolute positive way of relaxation. Therefore, this project is going to provide detailed background information and analysis of correlation between cartoon violence and children's aggressive behaviors. Through these information, the project hopes that more people will take greater care of what to show children during the parenting process.
